He is internationally renown for his ground-breaking textbooks Introduction to Nanoscience and Fundamentals of Nanotechnology, both published by Taylor & Francis.

Dr. Hornyak specializes in converting natural products into high technology as well as into products that protect the environment and enhance the health of human beings.

Most importantly, he believes strongly in a community-based approach to sustainable development and in promoting microeconomic technology-based enterprises in rural communities.
